Person-Centred Therapy · Edinburgh
I'm Matthew, an experienced Person-Centred counsellor and psychotherapist based in Edinburgh, offering a safe, empathic, nurturing space to explore what you carry.
I work with individuals in-person and online, exploring Poly & ENM dynamics, Kink and Sexuality, Procrastination, and more. Nothing is taboo in therapy with me.

Welcome
Relieving suffering, supporting you in finding your freedom to be and live as yourself, and restoring your sense of vitality and aliveness.
Whatever you carry — anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, or simply a sense of feeling stuck — you don't have to carry it alone. This is a space where nothing is taboo, where you can show up exactly as you are.
How Therapy Can Help
Persistent worry, panic, feeling on edge or unable to switch off.
Emptiness, hopelessness, or a sense of disconnection from life.
Exhaustion from over-working, workplace pressure, or chronic tension.
Repetitive arguments, co-dependency, fear of abandonment, or patterns that keep repeating.
Feelings of not being good enough, self-doubt, and a loud inner critic.
Navigating change — loss, new beginnings, or feeling lost and unsure of who you are.
Processing bereavement and the many forms loss can take.
A sense of going through the motions without truly living.
Noticing the same situations arising and wanting to understand why.
A desire to know yourself more deeply and grow into who you are.
If you can relate to any of these, it may be worth an initial phone call to explore whether therapy is for you. There is no obligation — just a quiet space to talk.

A Little Bit About Me
I've lived in Edinburgh throughout my adult life, falling in love with the city when I moved here for University after emigrating to Scotland as a child. I love the ease of access to nature, the feel of the city, and its diversity.
I began my journey into counselling in 2018, coming from a sales, retail, and finance background. My own experiences of being uprooted, feeling isolated, abandoned, depressed and addicted, informed my own therapeutic work. It is my belief we can draw upon our experiences to understand ourselves better and strive for growth.
I came into therapy because I don't want anyone to feel alone. Through unconditional acceptance and understanding of our experience, we feel more connected to ourselves and others, and truly begin to heal.

How I Work
In my practice, therapy is about developing a relationship — creating a safe space where empathy, unconditional positive regard, and trust support exploring you. We work together in partnership to understand where your distress comes from, gently facilitating healing and ways forward.
You are the expert in your own life. I support your process by actively listening and responding to what you bring.
A warm, accepting space free of judgement — where nothing you bring is too much or off-limits.
We work together in partnership to understand where your distress comes from and find ways forward.
